Another day that was more like 4 1/2 stars, but I bumped it to a 5. I arrived at the launch at 5:15, already quite a few boats on the water and I had to wait to launch. By the time I got on the water and out to where I wanted to fish, it was probably 6am. I dropped the downrigger line to 10feet, and was getting ready to let out the line on my other rod when the downrigger line starts bouncing. No more than 30 seconds of actual fishing and I have 1 in the boat. Maybe 10 minutes later, the downrigger starts bouncing again. Lost this one though. Maybe 5 minutes pass, and I lose one again on the downrigger line. 5 minutes later, hook up and land. This one was at 15 feet on the downrigger. Then nothing for a bit.

I spent the next little while really scratching and searching for the depth of where they would bite, and what they wanted to bite on. Once I sort of figured it out, it was back to non-stop action. I finished the day with 7. I think I lost 4-5 fish. I would have got my limit, but my son calls me while I am on the water with an urgent issue, so my day ended. I don't believe that it would have taken me any more than 30 minutes to get the last 3. I had figured out where they were and what they wanted. So despite not limiting, the day was a 5 anyway as I am confident I would have got there.

What a difference a week made on the depth the fish were biting at.

I started before daylight with Rocky Mountain Radical Glow spinners on both lines, one in pink and 1 in violet. 1 paired with a pink Macks Double D Dodger, the other with a Dick Nite Clown Dodger. 12 inch leaders

Winning combo as the sun came up wound up being a pink Macks Kokanee Pro on the downrigger line, and a 50/50 Elgin God's Tooth spoon on the other line. (Done with the original modification shown by foryou except I used an opaque bead as opposed to metallic) 12 in leader on the Kokanee Pro, 18 inch on the God's Tooth Spoon. I had another Kokanee Pro on the rod I wound up putting the God's Tooth on that was getting a lot of action, but somehow one of the kokes managed to get one of the hooks through the wedding band part, and due to the barb, I could not get it back out. I was both pleased and surprised at the results with the God's Tooth. When I first dropped it in the water, I looked at the action, and I wasn't optimistic. It well out-preformed what I expected. Now I just have to hunt around for it in pink!

The downrigger got bites anywhere from 10 - 20 feet. Never got anything to play any deeper. If you watch the video, you can see the little trout rod I had to mess around with weighting to get it down to where the fish wanted it. I ended up with 2 - 3/4 ounce rubber cored weights on the line. It looks weird, but it worked well. So 1 1/2 ounces of lead probably put that line down between 15-20 feet depending on setback and speed. Being in a Kayak, I don't have the space to downrigger stack, so I have to improvise.

Speed that worked seemed to be between 1.35 - 1.50 mph. I may have got 1 bite at 1.6. Marked large schools at 80 feet all day. But for the most part fish bit between 10 -20 feet. I heard of a few limits, but most I talked to were struggling and searching. Mot sure if the sudden temperature change and the fact it was raining most of the morning made things difficult.

Pautzke's fire corn in red soaked the night before in Kokanee Super Dipping sauce was the bait. Spoon and all dipped in the sauce before I put it in the water. Re-baited and dipped if no action after 30 minutes.

Surface temp was 62. Fish sizes ranged from 11 inches to 14 inches.

If you watch the video, I apologize for the 2nd clip. It rained most of the morning and I forgot to wipe the lens on that clip.

Great job JoshH! It's so great to see you get better at getting the Kokes. Glad to hear the God's Tooth worked well for you. As you know, it is a subtle wobble but deadly. Great report and video.

Thanks foryou. I was pleasantly suprised with the results. Place I bought the 50/50 at didn't have pink. Going to see if I can't order from somewhere. I think I am getting some of it at least figured out. This was my 3rd time Koke fishing.

I believe Triangle bait and tackle has pink, you may have to call a few places. You can order from Ted's too. Hope this helps because you got to have the pink too for those Kokes:)

I found that I am taking the videos to try and see what I do wrong as much as anything else anymore.
