This is actually a report for the last hours of Tuesday and the morning hours of Wednesday.
I fished the north end of Moses from about 7-11:30 at night with three fish to show for it. Most time was spent in 4 to 7 FOW. They were from 15" to 24" with one on a rotating hook and crawler, one on a glow smile blade and crawler, and one on a conventional glow harness and crawler. The biggest one hit with low light while the other two ate way after dark. They fought great for walleye, and it was a wonderfully peaceful night. It was just really slow, though the enjoyment was off of the charts. It was a bit tough to manage the oars (inflatable pontoon) and the rod in the dark, while running two rods would have been impossible for me
First light came and went with only a "15 incher" to show for it. There is clearly a lot to learn about the shallow water Moses game, and I had new respect for the reports from the good guys that know the lake well. Anyway, I managed 6 more really nice fish (17' to 22") from about 7:ish to 11:30 a.m., for a trip total of 10 really nice walleye. It was slow going, but it was fun to see that part of the lake, and I kept enough for a few awesome family meals. I am in no way complaining about "hours per fish" instead of "fish per hour". I'm only saying that I couldn't make it fast and furious like some others can. There were some impressive smallies, three carp, and a large crappie to round it out.
I want to thank Lonnie for his kindness and knowledge. There are some pretty darn nice people on this rock if you're lucky enough to find them.
