Started evening trolling out of my canoe using a Green Leach on my fly rod. Caught a few small stocker's but nothing happened until we started to bottom fish. I ditched the canoe due to strong NW winds. Setup a for fishing off the dock with my son. Didn't take long we had caught 6 cuts with average size 14". Fun evening.

Those cutts are natives that spawn in May creek. Catch and release?

Contacted WDFW And there is no restrictions or catch and release requirements. But they didn't even know there was Cutts on the lake. Plus Lake Boren is not connected to May Creek...... May Creek is connected to Lake Kathleen which has a direct flow into May Creek. Maybe in some strange way Coal Creek but not even directly into Coal Creek like May is to Lake Kathleen.

There is a small native population of native cuts in Lake Boren. They are special fish. Yes, the regs let you keep the cuts. But to protect that small population, it would be best to catch and release. Keep the stocker rainbows.
