First one through the gate this morning, by the time I had lines in the water it was probably 7:30. Weather all morning would go from overcast, to a slight mist, to a light shower. Surface water temp was about 66. Began the day by trolling my favorite little stretch there, just left of the launch then south to the red buoy. By the end of the day, I had only briefly explored elsewhere. I was getting too many takedowns to even think about trying a different area.
One rod I went with 1/4 ounce lead with a Macks Double D dodger and a green size 10 Doc Spratley Fly. On the downrigger line, same set up, just a size 6 fly. Moved the ball between 10 - 25 feet all day chasing marks. I was marking fish all day between 15-30 feet. Only got 2 takedowns from fish down deeper. All fish caught came on the long line that was probably sitting 5-7 feet down. It took my having 14 fish on to get my 5 to the net. Many long, medium, and at the net releases. Happens with the smaller hooks, but hey, it's what they wanted from me. Kept me busy all morning.
Speed today was between 1.3 - 1.6
All fish I landed were healthy and fat. 3 - 14 inch fish, 1 - 15 inch fish, and 1 -16 inch fish. All quality bows. Nice DEEP pink meat on the 14 inch fish, to red on the 15 and 16.
I love this lake for the quality over the quantity.
Video shows the 5 I landed, and 2 of the fish that teased me right at the net.
