The first voyage in the new boat!! I really didn't want to rate this trip as I was more interested in learning the new rig, doing break-in runs and acclimating to my new surroundings and equipment. I did fish though so it counts ha ha.
We motored down to the south end where three other boats were already fishing and right off the bat the first learning experience...trolling motor wouldn't latch into position? The strap that goes around it likes to flip up and back into the mount so it gets pinched when you deploy...noted and corrected. The new Motorguide X5 80lb is STOUT and man does in pull this light aluminum boat! I dinked around fishing for about 75 yards, I would stop and mess with electronics at times but I fished the pad line for a bit. Tried topwater, chatterbait, swimming jig, jig, had a couple followers but no takers. Finally at the mouth of the little creek down there a got whacked! Set the hook and the skunk removing first bass on the new boat was inbound! Didn't have to worry as the thing maybe weighed a pound lol! Anointed the bow by dabbing his tail on both sides and let him go :)
I decided to motor around for break-in purposes so we did that for a while, the Mercury 115 Pro XS 4 stroke is awesome, so quiet, good power, I can't wait until break-in is over!
I decided to fish my way back to the launch and call it good at about 3:30 and ended up catching one 2lber on a Senko. I was really too busy playing with things to truly 'fish', so I will take it! I didn't even get pics of the fish...my wife took video of both of them though so that's cool!
I did a couple walk around videos for YouTube if anyone is interested in viewing them? Great boat! Very happy with my decision and looking forward to many great years ahead!
