We hit the lake at about 1:00 in the afternoon in a canoe and a small
fiberglass boat. Fished Rooster tails for about an hour, then my buddy tied
on some powerbait and BAM, reeled up a 3.5 pounder. I switched to
powerbait, and pretty soon had 2 fish in my boat (one my girlfriend caught
and one for me). Then, in the height of our discovery, a local putted out
and informed us we had racked up about $500 in fines. It seems there are
"secret" rules about fishing in that lake, and there was $100 fine for using
power bait. The regs just said "Open for trout date-date Special gear
restrictions" What a crock. We dumped the fish and took off, because the
local also said some of the other locals were mad at our happiness and
called the DNR. Whatever!!!!
