Not my favorite conditions for fishing this lake but I was excited to get back on it for the first time in a few years! I started by running down the west side and pulling in by the rock hump about 1/4 mile from the launch. I started with one of my favorite techniques up here and it took about 4 docks before it got any reaction. I missed two fish then hooked and lost 3 including a good one! Fish were doing the old jump and spit. I paused momentarily to switch out to a new sharp trailer hook. The bite went cold. I motored down to the bank that runs out to Geneva Point and caught my first fish of the day a 2.1lber. I tried running down to Strawberry Point but the wind was picking up and I was quickly in 2 footers, not a big deal, I fished for a few casts but just didn't want to deal with it so I let the wind push me back north along the east shore.
These fish seemed to still be hanging just out were the bottom rolls off deeper from their spawning areas? The east shore has a great transition bank where the bottom rolls from about 3-5 feet down to 10-20 feet. I fished this area and any dock that stuck out far enough and picked up a couple more including big fish of the day a 3.8lber on a grub slow rolled along the break.
Docks in water 5-10 feet produced on a spinnerbait and the pilings and transition area produced on a green Yamamoto grub. I fished crankbaits along the break as well but nothing touched them. Grubs right above the grass or spinnerbaits along the docks worked for me today. I didn't drop shot only because I didn't feel like drop-shotting lol.
The dogs approve of the new boat.
