Launched at Northrup pt. and decided to try the flats first before moving elsewhere - long story short, stayed
at the north end of the flats the rest of the day, that is until about 1:15PM and the wind came up - went from
flat calm to white caps and rollers in less than 10 minutes and that was the end of a good day fishing and catching.
10 'eyes, 10 perch and 3 smallies for the wife and I. Caught 'em on everyting as long is is was green/chartreuse
and had a juicy worm on the end - used both slow death as well as singles with a stinger - used both smile blades
and #3/4 colorado blades - have been having real good luck last year and this year with the #3 colorado/indiana
pro series spinner blades from jann's netcraft - have also been using plain brass and nickle blades decorated with
reflector tape from the same source - just haven't got into paint yet. The bite was interesting - would come on
for about ten minutes and off for about 40. Early on I followed the Greebes since I know they are looking for small
bait fish and had some luck, but it seemed every thing below the surface was on the move. 'eyes were in the 16-19
range, but not a lot of meat on them, smallies were nice and fat and full of pink crawdads and the perch were
also chubby, but with empgy stomachs. At the cleaning station, one guy and wife caught a lot of smallies down
toward the willows and one guy fished the mile, but only a couple of fish to show for his efforts. Caught fish in
14-40 FOW - no consistancy to what we caught and what depth - that's fish'in, stay flexible.
