Well decided that today might be the last day to get out and fish due to rain heading our way. Hit up American lake around 10 am and fished till 3 pm. We arrived to the wind blowing steady and the boat sitting sideways at shore, right away I knew it was going to be tough but hey let go fishing!

Started right across from the WDFW launch and headed north marked fish there were a ton of other boats fishing at least 20 so I was hoping it was going to be a good day. No bites for at least 20 min then fish on. Son pulls in a nice RB not what were after but in the box it goes. He has a friend Paul that loves fish but has not had a chance to make it out with us so we give him some fish every chance we get. After getting blown to hell and back decided to hit the back side of silcox maybe get some protection from the wind. Nope....holy moly the water was getting rough and hard to turn the boat around into the wind. We landed a few more trout and welcomed them to the club and showed them a real cool time. We decided to hit the very north end of the lake and bounce bounce goes the rod....oh its a koke head shakes boat it spinning around this is fun!! In the box goes a nice but little koke that fought his heart out.

Reset the gear and made another loop and would it you know another great take down on my son's rod that was running the Pink Ice from wanna fish a lure that thing was getting slammed today. He was out doing me for the first time ever he was happy. as more RB made it in we decided just one more and were done. Whamm his pole just bends this one is heavy and he is all smiles...take his time big wind blows and he loses his hat he won at Chelan from Worksharp I spun the boat around grab the net he is still fight the fish and the hat goes under to the bottom...then fish off. Oh the pain. Anyway we got over it and reset and his rod just starts pounding fish on great fight and ahh a real nice fat koke in the net.

All in all windy lost a hat had a super fun time with my son and caught some great fighting fish. As always American lake treats our family right!!
Today was 1.4 - 2.5 mph caught fish on the DR at 20 - 42 ft. corn and sauce. Tight lines.

What is funny is there was three guys in a rubber raft fishing in that wind not to smart.

Toni, Adam was tickled pink he out fished me He had the hot pole today and that pink ice lure was on fire. I can promise you he will be using that one again and again. One of my rods never got even a bump no matter what I did. One of those crazy days but came home with fish!! Oh forgot to add I did manage knock off with the net two very nice kokanee and I heard about it....normally its the other way around.

looks like copods in american lake. not so good. where are the kokanee? should be biting consistently about now.

Doc, I think the water is very warm, the surface temp was 72 a few days ago that is way to warm. Hope the rain helps a bit, I have noticed when WDFW stocks the lake with RB the kokanee shut down and seem to hide and not only in this water system but others as well. the past few years I have got 90 % of my kokes in the top 35 feet of water at American this year it has been deeper close to 60 feet and deeper. This has been the normal at other lakes I have fished as well. Cooler water? Maybe the lakes turned early and this is playing hell with the fish.

would make sense. i usually allways get my kokes at 45' on summit. some still, but, many at 50 and deeper.
