Launched around 6am behind one other boat. I was very optimistic with the clouds and rainy yet calm conditions and the current moon phase. I launched on the gravel side and topwater fished my way out the pad lines into more open water without so much as a boil. Heading towards piling point I caught a dink on a spinnerbait. Once near the pilings I caught another dink on a Senko, followed by a pounder on the same. I worked the pilings with a Senko, jig, buzzbait, spinnerbait and square bill crank, no action. Heading towards the park I picked up another dink near a laydown. There are two docks over here with a clump of pilings on a timber covered hump, I cast into the pilings and counted my Senko down, twitched it three times and killed it, paused, twitched it again and no contact....started reeling and felt the fish, set the hook and it was running right at me, sped up set the hook again and gone.....big fish. I worked this area with jigs, t-rigged worm and Senko out to 18' with no more action.

I headed across the lake to the pad side and started fishing the outside edge and after about 30 yards without a nibble I just headed into the pads. Fishing a frog over holes I got one blow up so I decided to flip for a little bit. Throwing a Zoom Z-Hog on a 1oz tungsten weight pegged with a bobber stop I could flip a good distance work the bait then retrieve it along the top of the pads and kill it and let it sink again. While doing this I let it sink and as soon as it hit the bottom wham! Fish nearly took the rod! I layed into him and had him for about 10 seconds and gone...moose!

Fished around in the downpour for a couple more hours before bailing out with no other bites. Fished depths to 20 feet and around 12 different techniques each in at least two colors and just couldn't get on anything consistent unfortunately.

"B8" do you peg the weight right at the hook, or up the line a ways when using that technique?

The bobber stop style will ride up when casting but I reset it when needed to keep the weight snug against the bait when flipping heavier vegetation. If I want a presentation where the weight can move away from the bait I will just throw an unpegged Texas Rig OR depending on depth and cover thickness a Carolina Rig. Not pegging in heavy vegetation often times means your weight sinks and your lure stays up on top of or high in the vegetation which is not ideal most of the time.
