I got off work 5:25pm got home 5:40pm and loaded up boat no dinner...got to Lake Cassidy by 6pm and headed to my spots on boat launch side of the lake. It was windy but pulled into close to shore in some lily pads and begin my top water assault on the back of the pads. Key to this type of fishing is being able to cast to a very small spot which is tough to do in the wind. I made a couple bad casts then moved to 2nd spot one good cast let it sit nudge it and FISH ON! Whoa son this one's big!! Horsed him out of the lily pads and water skied him a bit 10lb test working well...get him in out comes the phone photo taken he's big have to hold him way out to fit him in! Selfie taken...now the tale of the tape measure...got new lake record last week on Weds after work 17"...measure once check it twice 18.5"!!! now how wide 4.5" that's over 3lbs+!!!! Nice first first last weds new lake record first fish this weds new lake record! I could get used to this. Let him go grow and get bigger!

Move to next spot wind is picking up first cast nothing oh bluegill or crappie hit..can tell the difference by now...I do a lot of top water fishing. Next cast move it nothing move it again down it goes set the hook big one!!! I have about 7 ft of line out if that haul him in too quick not ready for lipping...play him some more and find the drag this time he's ready and he swallowed it. 2nd one 17"!!! This would of tied my lake record! So 2 fish in first 20 minutes 35.5" I can quit now!

I didn't fished some more until 9pm but it was pretty windy got another bass 10" and had a few more bluegill/crappie bites but only about 8 hits tonight.

No complaints when you set a new to me Lake Record!

Glad I went got off late from work and was debating staying home.

All fish caught photoed and released to live to fight another day.

Nice job! I was out there sunday with a friend and he got 1 LMB that was 2 or 3 lbs and a dink perch. I had lots of little bits on a senko. Guess Ill have to try more topwater/rapala tactics next time. Keep on slayin em!

Thanks for another great report from Cassidy and thanks for practicing catch and release so the rest of us have a chance to catch those nice big largemouths. See you out there.

Thanks guys. I was surprised two big one's first fish of the day two Weds in a row. Fisherman92 try top water minnow #7 perch in back of pads in the holes close to shore and you have to hit your spot and don't move it. Most of the bites are they take it right after they look it over or after first twitch. Slower the better I have found works and I usually motor close and then paddle into the pads and sit in the lily pads. I did lose that one last week in front of the pads but with cooler weather and rain think they are in the back still. Good luck. And think I know why it took me this long to get a big one...I used to golf a lot in May and June spawning seasons:).
