I started about 6:30am. Air temperature was 46 degrees and the water was barely under 66. There were lots of big fluffy clouds with blue skies in between but no wind or rain until I got ready to leave about 10am. The downpour came as I was taking out at 10:45. The rain drops were huge and when I pulled the plug about 3 gallons of water came out of my boat.
Catching was slow on this day. The biggest moments were the one kokanee I hooked and got into the boat and the triploid I lost. I was reeling in what I thought was a bigger trout since I caught a 14 incher the day before. They don’t fight the same as the kokanee. Then I saw it! It was big. I lifted to slide the fish into the net and it dropped off into the net which made me lower the net (it was heavy) and the trout jumped out of the net. I think it was 20 inches…but it might have only been 16-18 inches. I know it was big!!
None of the caught fish came on the camera rod. I was in 40 to 80 feet of water trolling 1.27 to 1.6 mph. Riggers were set from 23-40 feet on the balls. I used Dick Nite dodger and Wannafish A Lures. The kokanee came at 32 feet down with a lure prototype and Chrome Clown dodger.
