Quick question, I've never done Trilling fishing before. Just drift fishing from shore and bottom rigs and float rigs from shore.
What kind of Rod/Reel is necessary for trolling like what you were doing? Does it need 100% to be a trolling combo or would my 9ft med weight Daiwa D shock 9xi spinning combo be sufficient? Thanks

6/27/2016 9:15:00 PMLooking at your photo of the nice calm water I envy you. My wife and I fished Lake Washington yesterday and never saw any calm water. In fact midway between Mercer Island and the Cedar River we had small swells coming from the Mercer channel plus the wind from the North.
No Cutts for us, just a self release Kok. I normally don't fish weekends as I've been retired for some time but the lakes reopening was more than I could endure. The launch at Atlantic City was a bit crowded around noon. lol

6/27/2016 9:38:00 PMNice gaff! Would that be for the freshwater halibut found only in the mystical depths of Lake WaWa or for retreival of the downrigger clip? Nice porker of a fish! We'll see a few over 5lbs for sure this year. And yes, according to the counts at the locks, over 15,000 sockey have made their way into the Lake so far.

6/27/2016 10:17:00 PMG-man-Ha Ha! Yes it is for clip retrieval only ( and sometimes when outside the boat it gets me things without having to climb back in!) I am expecting to see some hawgs reported here soon for sure!
@ ARK- that was early but yes it got real sloppy later after about 9 am with a pretty stiff north wind

pcorazao- yes a herring strip and stuff the chamber with herring too
@scheindogg- check out some of DJ butlers reports! He slays them with a spinning rod, so yes it would work fine but be sure to use some bead chain swivels to keep line from twisting
