Boy what an early morning. Woke up to my alarm sounding off at 2 am. Grabbed lunch out of the fridge and headed on up to Baker Lake. Despite the overcast and sporadic rain fall, the lake was pretty much smooth until the late morning breeze set in.

I had a game plan in mind which was to start fishing where I had success last year in the shallower water around 60-90ft. Didn't mark much and no action until I hit the 100ft mark and first rod starts dancing and popped off the downrigger. Lost that fish before I could even grab my rod. Gear set back down to 40ft, just kicked my feet up and my second rod goes off which was at 50ft. 7.5lb buck for the first fish of the day. I continued to troll through that same area for 2 hours landing a coulple females in the 5lb range. Decided to head towards the crowd after not marking schools after my last fish. I tried to stay out of the fleet as much as possible which helped. Lost one more and landed another buck. Landed 4 out of 6 hook ups and it was time to go as the breeze started picking up and I wasn't sure how much battery life I had left. It was a blast catching these on Koke rods and from my toon. I will be back up to conquer a limit next weekend.

Gear used: home tied hoochie rig. 12 inch leader
Bait: sand shrimp
Scent: none
40-50 ft on the wire all morning.

Great report, and great day of fishing. Nice to see you rock it on the pontoon, with all those guys in $20k boats right along side you! (-:

Get them while you can, the tribal effort is now going through the roof now. With that last dam release there should have been 1000 fish a day. Instead, 1/3 of that and most covered in net marks. Constant drift netting in the Baker River and just below it are really going to take its toll on the quantity and quality of the fish getting trucked.

Nice job man! I was out there in a white inflatable and seen you pass me up as you were heading towards the fleet of boats. A few moments later you were hooked up on one. Some guys yelling at each other but you kept your cool. Great going unfornately for me I didn't even get a nibble and I usually do ok out there. Hopefully next time. I will try again in two weekends if I get the time or if I don't end up going to lake Wenatchee on my brother in law's boat
