Wanted to provide some input and feedback after a rec my trip to baker lake on the 11-12 of July. The wife and I drug our boat up from the California Central Valley. The bite was not wide open but it was steady. Averaged a fish an hour with some doubles tossed in.
The area which provided the best fishing was on the east end of the northern part of the lake. A large "slide" coming off the hillside provided a visual landmark for our north and south trolls at about 200 yards off shore in 140' of water. 29' OTW in the early morning was a great depth as they day grew longer we lowered to 44' and got a few more. Pink shrimp soaked in fire brine did the trick. Double hook set ups with beads and a seed smile blade far out performe the hootchies. Good luck to those who give it a go, the fishery is beautiful and the folks were friendly.
Tight lines!

Nice job getting some of those Sockeye into the boat, thanks for the tips. I need to get up there during the week, looks like the a hundred less boats than the weekends!

Great report! Thank you for sharing. You making the trip from California makes me feel bad for balking at the idea of driving up there from Vancouver, WA! Where did you guys stay at for your two day adventure???

We stayed at the horse shoe cove campground. I suggest staying at swift creek. Much better launch, I had a 21' thunderjet and it was a red ass launching at horseshoe cove. I grew up in Ridgefield and the navy took me to California but I am hoping to move back home after I retire a second time. Get up there and get after them! Suggest midweek to avoid the bigger crowds.
