We didn't put all of our limits in the boat, but this was a 5 star day. Once again the wife and our two kiddos are on The Benthook pontoon. Just added a downrigger this last week and am just starting to figure out how to use this thing. It's a penn fathom a aster 600 manual. Never used a downrigger so this is a first. Will start experiments with stacking soon. But for now just running one rod on the rigger. I will admit I am having trouble seeing the bite. Setback from ball to release is about 18". I'm thinking about running it further back to allow a little more room to transfer the bite to the tip better. We have taken a few weeks off on the upper lake and the fish have moved and we had to look around to find them. Finally got into them just in front of the last house heading up lake. These fish are just starting to get a little color change. They are in a big school and every time we found the school we hit fish. Orange hoochies are the best color this day. I only had 2 tied up so needless to say I tied 10 more when we got home. Did great on the long lines and downrigger pole. Drug first fish around or the downrigger for a while before I reeled it in the check and got a nice 13" that was flat wore out. Learning curve on the rigger. Any advice would be great.
