We decided to try a doubleheader today. The forecast was for increasing wind today so we planned to fish for Kokanee at Deep Lake followed by Walleye at Banks. There were big whitecaps at Blue Lake as we approached and hoped that North wind would be partially blocked by the cliffs at Deep. I have never fished there before but was at the launch 30 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to find the road paved all the way to the lake and find a concrete launch and dock. We were happy to find the lake relatively flat and headed up this gem nestled between basalt cliffs. Beware of a rock pile just out and to the left of the launch.

We had lines in the water by 6:45 with pink hoochies at 45-50-55-60 feet. The depth finder showed fish everywhere especially concentrated between 50-60 feet. First fish within 10 minutes then it was nonstop action. Had our 15 fish limit within 90 minutes and lost at least that many more. Size were 10-12". The lake is gorgeous and we appreciated our sheltered location as we looked south and saw brown blowing dust.

The wind was still really blowing as we crossed the dam at Banks but I thought we could still safely give it a go. We picked up crawlers and went to the launch just north of Million Dollar Mile. The water was down at least 2 ft from last week and the launch was unusable. We were able to put in just south of MDM and headed north. We dropped lines by 9:30 and worked 20-30 FOW with our standard spinners/slow death/bottom bouncers. Today we stuck with chartreuse and orange colors. 2 fish the first hour with an additional 10-12 the following 2 hours. All the fish in 16-18" range.

We were pleased to turn an iffy forecast day into another great day on the water with great friends.
