That hole is 20 to 30 deep so if your floating bait you need to be down close to where the fish are. Most bankies throw large wiggle warts or spinners ( with a dropper weight) from that location. A few years back I got a nice springer from that spot on an orange wiggle wart. If the Columbia is open you can plunk a sand shrimp or tuna ball on the Columbia side.
All that said I have had better luck this time of year on the Klickitat, which is 35 min to the east. Bobber and eggs are very productive when the kiings and coho are in. Try the pine tree hole( crowded) at MP 3 or further up for more peaceful fishing. Good luck.

I did use a slip bobber and floated roe and shrimp starting at 28' deep and kept drifting different depths until I hit the 5' mark. I tried roe and shrimp on the bottom with Corky's at different ranges and depths on the leader. Still nothing.
I am a rookie so I did not think to anchor line with warts or spinners until I was driving home....Stupid Stupid Stupid.
I was standing there on the bank looking at the boats pulling in fish with flashers and warts / plugs....Had the same stuff in my box but did not put 2 and 2 together to do it myself. I will for sure next time.
Or take the boat.
I have only owned the boat for 2 seasons and I am not sure about my abilities in that 'bowl' with the traffic and the wind / currents.
I will try again either way for sure.
