Spent the day on Whatcom today. Caught lots of small fish and two that went 3lbs. One of the 3lbers had another 4 fish following it that were all in the 2-4lb range so I let it swim next to the boat while my partner dropped a grub down trying to get a double. The fish came off as I reached to belly land it and that was that. The other fish had a hook to it's throat and I wanted to release it asap so no photo's this trip.
We had a ton of follows but the takers were mostly sub 1.5lbers. We fished mainly the east side of the lake aside from the run out to Strawberry Point. Found a new area with an awesome drop off fairly close to shore and this stretch seemed to hold the bigger fish.
Weather was calm and water temps ranged from 68*-71*. Once the Labor Day weekend passes it will be go time for largemouth til the end of Novermber but I may make it back up to Whatcom once or twice before it closes in October.
