Well my son and I decided to hit up the opening of coho and give it a shot. We arrived at Renton around 9:30 am and launched and headed up the lake to try and find some fish. After a 35 min run we passed 520 and started marking fish right away there seem to a ton of boats out.

We had picked up a few new lures to try and threw the tackle box at them no joy. We saw three other fish landed all day. Around 2 pm I found another lure I picked up and put that on within a few minutes fish on!! Nice coho in the box love it. Great little fight and rolling around in the water. I reset the gear and start making passes over the same spot. Rinse lather repeat right! A few times over and the pole starts dancing fish on, my son grabs the rod and a nice little coho in the box. He is all smiles but on dad's rod not so fun....but I only had one of these lures so it is what it is. Reset and repeat, a few passes over and over again in the same area and my son says hey your rod is going off.....grab the rod it pulls the clip and it starts running pops the surface right away at first I thought king but a good long fight and a few really nice I am going this way to bad....I manage to get this fish to the net, son hooks the lure fish is hanging outside the net and I tell him turn it over and scoop it in. Whew that was close. Reset the gear and one more needed for limits. A few more laps and wham the rod pounds the water and pulls the clip, he grabs the rod and says its heavy. I tell him nice and slow, takes his time and in the net it comes. What a great day we had and thanks to Mike for his tips and video a few years ago on this fishery that was all I had to go by. We packed up and headed back to the launch at 3:30 pm off the water by 4:15 and headed home.

Largest fish was my son's at 8.8 lbs.

Tight lines.

How do you get past 520 from a boat, can you just go right under it?
I thought you had to launch on the north side of 520 to boat on that side but clearly I was wrong lol

The east side of the bridge you can go under there is a 70ft clearance area as far as how tall your boat can be and around 100 ft wide. I did not want to run that far but figured Friday traffic in Seattle been there done that. Water way was a nice ride at 30 mph cruse hard to pass that up.

Magic lure....lol. Just a crank bait like the one in Mike's video. I have never fished this lake prior so had no idea what would work so just followed the advice in the video. Depth was between 20 to 55 ft on the dr. Chasing marks yes sometimes but it never produced a bite for me. Speed anywhere between 1.5 and 2.5 mph gps.

Thanks guys for all the complements it was really fun day fishing and seeing my boys eyes light up with every fish was great!!
