Second trip out to Emma since seeing it listed on the WDFW Franklin lakes site. Previous trip we caught a couple small perch.

Lots of growth in the lake so I got stubborn looking for bass and jogged around the lake fishing different sports- left all my tackle at the parking area so I ended up fishing a drop shot w/3" senkos in watermelon/red flake and brown/chart tip without a weight half the time after it broke off! On opposite side I saw many fish in the shallow area just hanging out. Based on their behavior and size I'm pretty sure these were carp. Continuing down the southeast side of the lake I was able to sight fish for bass. I got some curious chases, but no commits. I found and fished over the pipe I believe connects the lake to the Snake river and I was able to hook into a reasonable sized LMB (picture, watermelon/red flake). This spot was nice because the water flow broke up the weed line so I had a deep, clear channel I could cast out and reel through. On the way back to the car I did a bit more sight fishing and was able hook into another smaller LMB.

Had fun for about 45min-1hr, not a bad lake if you wanted to hang out in a paddle boat or raft (weeds were on the surface and would muck up your prop). Buddy didn't want to do the walk so he hung out on the cliff side and caught a couple small perch. Bringing boots the next time I plan to climb on those rocks, my dogs were killin me.

It's not stocked for trout, unlike Dalton Lake to the south. You could try fishing it, but with most the lakes in Franklin County, they've been frozen over and both Emma and Dalton are at the base of cliff sides so they do get less sunlight. I lasted check Dalton probably the 10th or 17th and it was frozen over.
