Me and my son decided to go fish for a couple hours Sunday morning. We arrived at the spot we were going to try around 9am. We fished on the Southern part of the lake towards the st Joe chain lakes, thats as close as I can give you. The first place we wanted to try was a 100' or so dock at a marina, probably said to much already( if you've been here you know where I was. Anyhow, while we are getting set up another group of people shows up(elderly couple with grand kids), expected. We were all the way at the very end were they proceeded to walk to. They came all the way down to with in 5' of us, and this dock was over 100'. Maybe its just me and my personal fishing etiquette, but i found this to be absurd and kinda rude considering the size of the dock. Again could just be me. Any who back to the fishing. Obviously we packed up and left. We went down the road to another smaller dock in shallower water. It was pretty weedy in most areas so my son just fished the typical worm and bobber and caught 3 small smallmouths and 1 bluegill. I was pretty bummed about the spot change so I didnt have much motivation to try very hard. I threw a few husky jerks which I never have had any luck with and didnt this time either. So I decided I would throw a big soft swimbait that Ive had laying around for a few years. I managed to get the hook in there a little bit to the side so the bait wasn't working properly. Well that's what I thought anyway until this guy slammed it about 15' away from the dock. He hit it hard but didn't really put up much of a fight for a 32" fish. Photo and released.
