After not being able to get a coho to bite on Washington a number of times, I wanted some fish on the boat. So Sunday I decided to go to lake stevens and see if the kokanee were still looking good enough to eat. Got the wife up at 6 and headed out. Got to the lake by 7 and out fishing by 7:15. There were some smaller schools scattered on the east side of the lake (sunset park) all at about 90ft. Fish were scattered throughout the column, but bit more consistently at 70-90ft. After the skiers showed up we went towards the middle and I saw the biggest school I have seen here. Spread from 35-90ft and more than my whole fish finder screen. Got a double right after seeing it. Fished for just over 3 hours and put 12 kokanee, 1 trout and 1 catfish in the boat. Digs will be happy I am bringing some meat home. Overall a good day, little slower than normal, fish were barely starting to show color, still good for the table.
Back to Washington for some coho,
Good luck to everyone!
