Got to the lake late due to multiple car accident on the highway. Had my Hobie PA on the water by 8:30 and headed to where all the boats were.
This was my first time on Lake Washington so I anticipated a steep learning curve. Started out with a mag lip down to 50 feet in 80 fow. No luck on my first 3 passes so I switched it up to a Brads Wiggle Wart in blue and green with some herring anice rubbed on.
Wasn't in the water more than a minute and the rod was a bouncing and fish on. Brought in a nice looking little Chinook.....estimated at 8 lbs. Released him and knew I was now on the right gear. 10 min later hooked into an 18 inch coho. Spent the rest of the day hooking into some active suckers.....fun but not great for the table.....
Was just about to head back...had my kayak all cleaned up and ready to troll back to shore when my rod went nuts again. This time she took right off and pealed line. Surfaced a little ways away from me and just came in easy after the short fight. Gorgeous coho with some rather large skeins in her. Put her on the stringer and fought the waves back to shore.
Met another hobie owner on the water....hope he caught something. Lots of friendly folks out there....really enjoyed my first Lake Washington adventure. Will definitely be going back as soon as I can.
