This was from Jeff and Jim's 3 day quest from the 16th to the 18th at Omak Lake. They worked the lake over pretty good, doing C&R on 227 fish. Big fish was 8.8. Twenty some presentations got bit. The Jeff drift pictured was one of the best. This is one of our favorite fishing holes for some R&R, beautiful scenery and a complete change of pace from our deepwater precise trolling on Chelan. You have to love the myriad of color variations and the eagerness of these Lahontans. Watch the weather though. It is big water and can be challenging if it blows up. Tight Lines!

I used to make the run to Pyramid Lake outside in Reno every year and those Lahontan sure do get BIG! Looks like a GREAT trip and I think Lahontan's are beautiful! From rose colored sides to almost slate gray coloring too!

How is the taste on those Lahontan's ? I have read the water is somewhat alkaline and give them a slight off taste, Can you get around that by just smoking them? We have always talked about fishing there, but that hasn't happened yet. Years ago Sprague lake was stocked with the Lahontan, they were Big and great eating. I believe that was late 70's, what a great time we had catching them through the ice. During that time Sprague lake even got mention from Field & Stream as to the great Lahontan trout to be cought there.
