Got a late start to fishing today arriving at Kitsap Lake about eleven in the morning. There was an awful algae bloom two weeks ago but the lake appeared about as clear as it gets today. The wind picked up just enough to interfere a bit with trolling so I deployed wind socks to stabilize and slow the boat.

Today was a day to experiment with terminal gear. A Mack's Flash Lite troll with a bait holder hook with nightcrawler picked up the first trout. A sling blade followed by a bait holder hook with Pautzke eggs got the second fish. Double small inline flashers and a bait hook with a bright pink artificial work got the third. Everything tried today worked and the common denominator was flash followed with bait.

The lake was recently stocked but none of today's fish had the rub marks or worn fins typical of a fish just out of the hatchery. All were caught in the northern third of the lake where I've found trolling from east to west or vice versa seems to get three hookups for every one trolling on a north - south track.

Kitsap Lake is a reliable trout producer where I like to try different gear. Next trip will find me trolling a couple flatfish I haven't used in years along with an assortment of spoons.
