We launched the drift boat around 10am yesterday on Rock. Beautiful fall day!

By the end of the day, we had two limits (5 apiece). Of these 10 fish, 9 were steelhead plants. The other was a rainbow. The fish size ranged from 16 inches to 18 inches.

We tested a variety of OG1 lures. The most effective color was fluorescent pink. After this, the purple/black-scale with fluorescent orange tail, a solid fluorescent orange, and a new gold with black scales.

In addition, I was testing a new single-hook on the OG1. It's Matzuo octopus hook which has been very effective in the salt-water for salmon. The results were solid--I don't believe we lost a fish on this rigging. (At one point, we were doubled up with a steelhead on each rod.)

Here's a quick video taken with the GoPro:

One addenda to the report: We launched around 9:30 am. For two hours (from 9:30 to 11:30, the fishing was slow. We took two small rainbows.) Beginning at 11:30, it heated up fast. In two hours, we had two limits for a total of 10 fish. (And, that doesn't include two fish that came unbuttoned at the boat.)

This is the second outing on Rock where the fishing seemed to pick up later in the morning.
