I got off work early today and first day with no rain this month in a while so headed to Lake Cassidy. Got there at just before 4pm and fished until 6:30pm. First thing I noticed is water level is way up with almost 9" of rain we have had in October. I used neon top water minnow and buzzbait. Had a bite on minnow in set of pads left of launch good sign they are still hitting top water. Tried buzzbait no luck went past the dock and saw a big swirl out in front of pads and then saw another swirl heading south...think it was a trout working the shore. Kayaker had just went by close to pads so decided to do an about face and try the shallow south end. Had some luck there in past and stopped by white trailer that feeds the birds...I also decided to up size my minnow to perch #7 floater...2nd cast by dock and bam fish on he hit hard and had him hooked in two spots with both trebbles..he wasn't happy when he got to the boat and wouldn't let me lip him...so flopping fish in bottom of boat...grab him tape measure 11" and take photo and back in the water.
Went down south casting minnow and buzzbait no luck then see another boat coming around the corner...guy is fly fishing...couple more casts then decide to give him the right of way and troll around...cut motor outside of him and ask him any luck? He said no. I told him about my one and by this time get blown into the pads so try a cast and sure enough don't move the minnow works...haul in a bigger bass 14" this time. Take selfie still chatting with angler cast again another hit...miss him....cast again still talking fish on...this one's small 9". Nice to catch fish with an audience.
Head down shoreline to creek outlet have a few more bites, swirls but no takes of the minnow...so head for home.
Got just the 3 had about 9 hits/bumps/swirls. Water was a bit high and cool. But was catching bass in early November last year at Cassidy.
Got a good looking sky shot. All fish catch and released.
