I wasn't going to fish today but when I got up and saw the sun and light wind conditions, that was that. I got a late start and wasn't on the water until 10am. I caught the first fish right away, a sub 2lber and I was pretty excited because water temps were 54 degrees and the sunlight penetration really helped with lure visibility. It was about 90 minutes before the second bite and it was a weird one. As I made a long cast in the pads, I backlashed, bad. Got that all picked out and started reeling in the slack, then about 3-5 cranks on the lure and fish on! Went aver 2lbs so I was happy with that. Shortly after this I lost one after a very short fight and didn't get bit again for an hour or so.

One of the keys to fishing this time of year for me and especially these small lakes is to hit my spots multiple times throughout the day! I went through one of my areas three times before it produced and that was a 4.1lber! Another key is to throw back to a spot where you caught one, this doesn't always produce but when it does it tends to be a bigger fish. That held true on one of the docks I fished later in the day, first cast wham, 2lber. Lined up and made the same cast and a few more cranks in wham 4.7lber!

I finished the day going back through the area I caught the 4.1 and picked up another 2.2 to finish the day. Lure of the day was still the swim jig, I ran a 1/4oz on a 6.4:1 reel and a 3/8oz on a 4.7:1 reel for fishing deeper. The deepest fish I caught was 4 feet with two coming from about 1 foot of water. The weather this week should sustain the bite for a bit so get out there! One good cold front and things could come to an abrupt end?!

8 boated, 1 lost, 1 missed. Lost one lure when my line snapped on a cast, my fault for not checking for nicks after catching two fish. Picked up some trash around the launch on my way out....c'mon people, there's a friggin garbage can right there, don't be that lazy. Video is loading now, will post when it's done.
