I got off work early 2pm so decided to load up the boat and head to Lake Cassidy got there at 2:35pm. Couple kids in parking lot doing donuts in their truck and throwing rocks everywhere. Got the boat unloaded..calm as can be and since we hit 70 this week figured they maybe biting still. I cast my top water perch rapala towards first set of pads on left...sure enough 2nd cast a bump...didn't get him but some action right away. Went to right of launch as time was short to fish today and have had good luck on shallow side of lake before. Got my first fish by trailer that feeds the birds...usually I get one by the dock on the right...but this time first one came on next dock over good cast along dock...couple twitches and bam fish on! Nice fight he hit it hard and 11" in the boat. This makes the latest day in November I have ever caught a bass in Western WA. Global warming makes a long bass fishing season.
Got 2nd fish on next cast this time towards shore and reeds...He rolled with it and hit hard this time 12". Got a 3rd bite in same area but didn't take the minnow. I threw back towards the dock by bird feeders/white trailer and closer to shore and had a big roll behind the minnow but didn't get it. Did a few more casts around the area and closer to dock...no luck threw really close to trailer and sure enough roll and fish on 10.5". Got first three in about 30 minutes.
Figured I may have found a pattern close to shore and in shallows by reeds or dock.
Got next fish in pads further down on South shore and this time reeling it back another 10". Tried a swim jig and buzzbait here and there in back of pads and out front no luck. Had a couple more little hits in the pads and saw some fish roll close to where I cast and had one big one roll on it...might of been a crappie as saw the top of him but he missed the minnow. Had caught 3 fish by corner and tried in there with a few bites and only landed one 8" bass.
Went around the corner getting dark now and made it to the creek didn't have any bites and switched to the buzzbait. I went past the creek and got a nice bite on my buzzbait and landed a 12" and saw a 2nd fish scatter when I got the buzz bite. I tried the buzzbait down the south shore and almost to the centennial dock but no bites and it was dark by now.
Think I would of caught more with more time. Glad they are still biting.
They were hitting my lure hard which was different then last time I was here when they were sucking down the minnow.
All fish caught and released.
Good luck out there.
James
