Wow its great to be back home and able to go fishing again.

I flew back home from college Monday night to enjoy a nice thanksgiving with the family, but with a couple of days before the big feast, i couldn't help myself and had to wet a line for the first time in 4 months (it has been rough). since the weather had been spotty, i made a last second decision to head up to Beaver Lake for some simple shore fishing instead take the boat out.

Around 8:00 my dad and I split for the lake. The lake was stocked in October, so i knew the fish would be pretty slow and not wanting to bite much. also didn't see anyone catching anything. So with that in mind, we start fishing off the point at the city park across from the launch (forgot the discover pass) running 3 drop shot rigs, 2 with a 3' leader and one at a 6' leader and power-eggs on the hook. after about an hour, a little rain squall rolled through for about 5 mins and directly after, a few fish started surfacing. so, i changed one short leader to about 11'. about 30 more mins and that that rod got hit hard but didn't stick. So, with new hope i cast out again.

30 mins later i am just about to pack up when i notice a slight tick on that rod. it would move real slowly and then not move for 15 seconds. i waited a good minute before picking up the rod. i reeled extremely slowly until i found some pressure on the end, lifted my rod tip, and fish on! wow what a fight this was. the fish took off leaving the drag screaming. the fight took about 5 minutes to land this beauty. the final stats were 19" and 4 pounds.

lasted about 15 more minutes before calling it a day and heading back for a nice midday nap


it was so wonderful to get the rod back in the water again and i hope i get to do some more before i head back. maybe some black Friday fishing?
