3/20/2017 12:08:00 PMRat lake goes to C&R on the first of April thru 30 Nov. Also no internal combustion engines and selective gear rules apply at that time so I haven't fished it in the summer since I was a kid. Back about a hundred years ago, it was our go to lake mostly because it was close to Brewster and we could talk the girls into skinny dipping while we were up there.

I fish Green lake that has the same split season which I like as I catch and release most trout. When I see the C&R season I suspect good fishing with bigger fish.....When would, in your estimation would the ice be gone?

3/20/2017 1:11:00 PMI would just be guessing, but I'm thinking it might be safe for a couple more weeks. Maybe into the first week of April. As of Friday there was ten inches of good clear ice topped off with four or five inches of cloudy ice. There was another good hard freeze last Thursday night and if that happens again it will help prolong the ice a little.
