The day wasn’t supposed to have much rain but there was to be some wind. Therefore I chose Tanwax over American. It was to be a shakedown event to see if I can remember what I am supposed to do and how the big motor reacted toward the new stator. It worked but now it may have other issues. Time will tell.
To begin with, I used a spinning rod and casted 2 different small spinners with a piece night crawler but didn’t get anything. So I turned to trolling. After pulling what seemed like 100 times the kicker finally started. I had what I thought were 3 bites and one fish (perch) in the boat. The most interest from the fish seemed to be in the crankbait and the camera.
I tried to stay in 20 feet of water with the downrigger ball at 10 feet. Trolling speed was between .5 to 2 mph depending on the wind. Water temperature was 47-50. The amount of time I was there, 2.5 hours. 8:30am to 11am.
