Finally! Conconully lake is open! This is our favorite kokanee lake. It's just 15 minutes from home(Okanogan) and has beautiful fat kokanee. For those of you that are not familiar with the Conconully area; This is a outdoorsmans Wonderland, hundreds of miles of street legal atv roads, 2 Lakes on each side of town, a beautiful state Park with super clean bathrooms/showers, camping, fishing, want a trophy buck?, wildlife, snowmobiling, this place rocks! The state Park had tons of camp sites open this morning, and full rv spaces too. On opening weekend! If you need more like with a kitchen and space for a family look at Gibsons North Fork Lodge. Their cabins are affordable and the place is laid back. Great people. Now fishing!
We got to the upper lake at 6 am the lake is full but surprisingly clear. I had to work today at 10 so we fished on short time. We added a new boat to the fleet this year to complement the pontoon. 17 foot welded avenger. Got the skunk off the new boat in short order. Nice fat 13" kokanee. Lots of fish in the top 15-20 feet so every thing stayed shallow. Got most on my custom tube fly hoochies behind Mack's DD dodgers. One came on the promise keeper spinner made by Mack's. Fishing was steady we easily could have had our limits as a crew with more time. Orange was working, and bloody tuna. Finished with 5 13 inch kokes. In 2 hrs c&r as many rbt that count toward our limit because of the corn.
