Went charter boat fishing with a friend as a graduation present. The majority of the boats at Westport are going out for tuna, but not wanting to spend more than 12 hours off land we went bottom fishing. Probably took an hour and a half to get where the sea bass were and everybody caught there ten fish limit in less than ten minutes. They were actually feeding off the surface. They'd hit your anchovy as soon as it was half way in the water. I can see why some people are addicted to fly fishing for sea bass. We then went after some lingcod with no luck. I think someone caught an undersized one but that was it. I caught and released a pretty big cabezon, probably 8 or 9 pounds. We only tried for lingcod for about 45 minutes and the skipper took us back. We got back to the dock at 1:30, which is way sooner than I figured. Out of the six people on our boat (the Scooter) I was the only one to puke. Yay!
