A much anticipated Wednesday fishing trip with my sons and Tom Jacobs. A beautiful day full of promise as the Humpies are back in town. And what an appearance! We started fishing at 6:40am with a lot of company, but halfway down to the shipwreck there was plenty of room to fish. Started with two riggers and a center rod (which was quickly put away). The humpies are everywhere. We used standard rigs - white small flashers with small pink hoochies. A little scent. We found our hot zone at 59 and 54 feet on the riggers. I know, others fish shallower, but that's where we had our success. It was non-stop catching until about 10am when it slowed down to just occasional catching. We even broke out the buzz bombs and caught several just casting out and retrieving. What a morning! Four anglers, boats limited and back at noon. We released quite a few, some at the boat, some LDRs. Just an assume day. If you can get out go NOW. HOT HOT HOT. Thanks Tom for a great day and thank you for helping to clean up the boat afterward, it sure was fun getting it messy! LT at 6:30am, best action trolling north.
