Made the trip to the hatchery for some Saturday morning combat fishing. My friend Brad and I were in my boat. After dropping a couple crab pots we motored over and dropped anchor. Not too crowded at 8am, who should say "hi" but Carl C. from the Forum. He and his friend were already hauling in the fish left and right. We started off a little slower till I final gave in and asked Carl for a pointer as to why we hadn't hit yet. His advise, move in a bit, was right on. After repositioning the boat I immediately had a hookup. And so the morning progressed, catching and releasing fish after fish. As usual, the hot color was green. Brad was having good success mixing in pink yarn. I kinda doubt it makes any difference. Lost track of how many fish we caught/lost. The high point of the day: Brad nets his own fish and lays the net down in the boat. As he's asking where is the fish knocker?, the fish jumps out of the net and back in the water! And the fish had to clear a one foot high rail to do it. LOLs! Low point: watching the guy with a 4" white buzz bomb with large treble hook snag his limit. I must of caught his line about 4-5 times. The pathetic thing is, half of our fish were snagged too (hard not to snag them), but we released those of course. The guy ignored all comments hurled at him. Hint: #1 hook and green yarn. You'll catch fish legally and not have insults thrown your way.

Finished fishing at 12:30, checked the pots - just two keepers and several LARGE starfish. Yuck.
