Where else can you go to a municipal swimming pool and catch salmon?

I parked in the dark (4:30AM) at the south parking lot of West Seattle's Lincoln Park and walked along the beachfront paved path, north to the point beyond the pool. It's a shy half mile walk that gets your blood going. One fisherman came by me on a bike with his net and tackle on his back pack. (I'll have to try that.)

We started fishing at 4:45 AM throwing buzz bombs, Kastmasters and Pixee spoons, but no action until about 6:30 when a tidal rip floated by. High tide was about 5:30 so we expected the fish to cruise the point earlier than that. Usually you will get some hits from cutthroat or flounder if the slamon are not in, but nothing was showing or biting that morning

Then a school of pinks came through and hit the pink buzz bombs. I landed three in about 40 minutes and had a couple follow my lure to my feet. Another regular caught at least two. I entertained the others on the beach chasing my second one when it slipped off the hook. I threw it up on the beach four times but it kept getting loose and flopping back to the water's edge.

I was using a little herring bait butter on my lures, I don't think it made much of a difference. Other's were using shrimp oil on there lures but they didn't have any fish yet when I left at 7:15. I had to leave to get to church, so I don't know how the other fishermen ended up. The way the bite was going, maybe they all limited (4 pinks). I didn't see anybody fly fishing; usually there's a bunch of them.

Next time I might stay longer and get a bigger one. See you on the beach. Save some room for me and don't get mad when our lines cross.
