Went out early Saturday afternoon to catch some crab. After spending somewhere between 3 and 4 hours on the water, came back in with 5 crabs, 4 of which were absolutely huge.
Used 2 crab pots with turkey as bait. One thing to keep in mind is that this area is very shallow (20 to 30 feet) relatively far out. I have had not much luck crabbing in the shallow waters. The thing to do is go out to where it's 60 feet or deeper. Pull you pots at least once every 1/2 hour, or you'll have quite a chore. The last one I pulled had 20 crabs in it - pretty heavy, I would not want to pull up 30 or even 40 crabs (not by hand anyway).
Another thing I noticed is the amount of fish on the fishfinder. Lot's of them. I think the silvers must be in already. I wish I had my pole with me (which I did not). On that particular day the fish were only at about 15 feet deep - wouldn't even have to use a downrigger.
