Nice day, decided to go on Lake Steilacoom on inflatable raft. My Dad and sister and I got half way there when we realized we had forgotten the oars. We eventually decided to go to Point Defiance to do some saltwater fishing. I was upset because I had spent 30 bucks on freshwater tackle. We got their and the dock was crowded. People all around me were catching fish. One lady had caught half a dozen shakers. Shakers are baby salmon that are not full grown yet. They seemed to be biting buzzbombs. Boy, did those little stinkers put up a fight. My Dad caught 9, my sister caught 3, and I caught 3 also. They were all about 10"-12" weighing about 1 lb a 1lb 1/2. All were released. My sister also caught a cabezon, a rockfish, about 10" and weighing about 1lb 1/2. I highly recommend fishing at Point Defiance Boathouse Dock. You can purchase a saltwater fishing license there and there is plenty of tackle and snacks available in the shop.
