Partner and I launched from Pt. Defiance Boat House around 0730. Targeting Blackmouth. Never fished for them before. Started trolling with the tide in 120' water, 115' on the downriggers at 2-3 mph. Using B2 mini squid and Coyote green/chrome spoons. Fished until 0900 no action. Counted 26 boats in the area including John Keizer, Salmon Univ. I'd heard that Quartermaster Harbor was considered a good spot for Blackmouth so we picked up and moved over to QtrMstr. Ourselves and only one other boat. Lots of bait, but even more crab pots. Got a good hit at 90' on a Ace Hi Fly but missed him. Spent most of the remaining day checking our lines, which kept popping loose, but no seaweed, jellyfish or anything. Clean flasher and lure. We figured that it must have been shakers. Finally boated a nice 26" chinook about 1230. Fished for another hour but didn't pick up anything, but what a great day on the water. Absolutely clear skies, no fog, flat water. Couldn't asked for better conditions. We'll give it another try next weekend.
