Went out both Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th, in search of some Lings. Weather was AWESOME up there. 70-75 degrees, calm as can be, no wind, and sunny blue skies. Saturday we focused in 50-70 feet of water off the bar on the east end. Worked hard but had trouble finding fish and a good spot too. We were finding the sand dabs/flounder though...We weren't marking many rocks and after spending about 2 hours, we gave up and just headed back and hung out on the beach for the rest of the afternoon. We were using Pt. Wilson darts and 3oz jig heads with curly tailed plastic grubs, everything was smeared in Smelly Jelly.

Sunday was another fantastic day out there. This time, we worked around for about 45 minutes before finding a real good spot with a real rocky bottom showing on the finder. We were out in 80-90 feet right at low tide and were making slow drifts and BAM immediately me and my buddy hooked up with a pair of real nice Rockfish within 5 minutes of each other. Into the cooler they went....We moved off that spot in hopes of not hooking anymore rockfish, cause they don't usually live after being pulled up to the surface in 80-90 feet of water. Spent another 30 minutes looking for lings at a different spot on the bar and all we could muster up was 2 real small lings outta 60-80 feet of water...15-18 inchers, back they went after pulling the hooks outta them. Sunday I used a 2 oz Crippled Herring and my buddy stick with an all white Pt. Wilson dart.

What a great Memorial Day weekend. Weather was awesome up north on Whidbey Island, and the rockcod fish and chips last night were amazing....If only some crab and some blackmouth could accompany it....Will just have to wait until this summer...
