We were supposed to go to Potholes Reservoir this weekend with our cub scout pack, but plans got changed so we ended up at Camano State Park. This proved to be a good move because it was close to home, and the crabbing was great. I had never been to this park before but I'll definitely go back. The only draw back was that someone picked our pots on Friday, so that's why I gave it a 3 instead of a 4. I can't believe how bold people are, I can't imagine cruising around in broad day light, pulling up someone else's pots and taking their crabs. Anyway, on Saturday we ended up with 20 keepers, and had a nice feast on Saturday night. All in all the boys had fun, the parents had fun, the weather was great and I look forward to doing it again. We have had pots picked our last 2 times out. I am hoping to catch someone doing this in the near future. I have crabbed from Camano Island State Park for 10 years now. The last 3 have been horrible. I would love to know where you set your gear or am curious if you left the overnight to get that many keepers. Just curious. I have found the area very picked over ever since tribes were allowed to crab a month before the sport crab season. it's been 3 years since it was great crabbing. Thanks for the report.
