just got back into town and just finished filleting our catch. now for the report. we got to westport Saturday @ about 11:30 not a great low tide but low enough to get a few cockles and a limit of small/medium horse clams, couldn't get to the bigger ones. but only got enough for bait, none to consume. so off to the jetty the first day was gorgeous about 70 degrees and sunshine. started off on the bottom, fishing for what ever we could hook up with using horse clam parts for bait we immediately got into some greenlings couple small ones at first, then got a few worth keeping. left for dinner and came back with the wife and daughter. my wife starts hittin fish almost immediately. mostly small but she was happy then she hooks up with what i now know was a large rock prickleback about 22-24 inches long then she switches up to jigs and right away with the white body w/ red tail grub gets the largest kelp greenling of the trip. mean while my son was catching keeper dungeness and red rock crab with the fishing pole and crab snare. i started hitting seabass right at sunset with a 3 inch yamamoto grub in chartreuse with black flakes. i hit 5 in about 30 minutes but only 2 keeper size i even got a lingcod but it was only about 10 inches quickly released back to grow into a 40 inch monster, it got dark and we called it a night. that was all in the first day. the next day was pretty bad it was pouring rain and windy but me and my boy toughed it out in poncho's and rain coats good thing too cause we ended up with a 2 nice seabass on the white and red grub and a few more greenling, and i got my cabezon not a giant but big enough to fillet and will enjoy consuming. well all in all it was a great trip and well worth it. even with the rain and wind on Sunday. tight lines everyone and we'll see you on the water..
