I took my family to Lake Leland Saturday in search of some panfish to fry up, as we are all pretty tired of trout. We had good success on perch, none of them were large (averaged about 5 to 6 inches) but the kids had a good time and they tasted great as always. We weren't doing anything fancy, just crawlers on the bottom. Left with about 30 total fish after 5 hours, not exactly hot action but the locals on the fishing pier assured me that when the water warms up some more it will be tough to keep a worm in the water for long without catching a perch. I'll give it another try in a few weeks to test their theory. We returned Sunday morning to try it again, but after about 30 minutes the wind shifted & came from the east, it got chilly and the bite turned off. We went to Teal Lake on the recommendation of an "old timer" (who I would like to thank if he reads this) fishing next to us and caught quite a few bluegill.
