Fished in the first annual Ratfish Invitational Tournament (The RIT) with my buddy Will.
We battled all evening long dragging "keeper size" Ratfish to the beach. We caught some on Herring but towards the end Shrimp seemed to be the hot bait. The action was intense and the camera crews were rushing back and forth to get a glimpse of each fishermans catch. We even had a brief double as the combatants scrambled to get their fish scored.
Unfortunately this years tourney ended in a tie with 6 rats each, shocking everyone at the weigh in. I caught one Kelp crab and Will caught a Dungy. Lucky for us, we didn't have to waist any time catching edible fish as Ratfish was the only species to be found.
All fish and crab were released unharmed. The Ratfish flew away with their front fins dragging there tails behind them. Someone needs to teach these fish how to swim!
