had a blast today... we went out targeting lingcod we fished middle channel for an hour or 2 without any fish. then went to one of my rather secretive spots (sorry). we were fishing a drift that has 980ft of water around it and we would start out at 130 and go as deep as we wanted. bothe our fish came in 150-200ft. at one time i was hitting bottom at 450ft. WOW. my dad caught a really fat 31inch ling. on a 6oz red diamond jig. shortley after i switched from herring to a 6oz leadhead jig and on my first drop a ling smacked my jig while it was free falling. I hadn't even hit bottom yet. this one was a 30in. not bad at all. nice part was we did not have to throw back any dead rockfish we only caught 2 which is unusual for lingcod fishing. good luck out there.
