Hit thurs-sat out at Neah for rockfish and hallies. Went with another buddy on the coast who had some experience in the area, so we trusted what was planned. Got the big goose egg on Thurs, going 0-0 on 3 rods. Boats at the dock were limited everywhere, so we did some info gathering that night.
Next day The Thumb joined us and headed out for rockfish. Headed out to the C closure, hooked up to halibut that we had to shake off, dogfish, and no lings. Made a run to the coastline, hit a random outcropping of rocks and thought it looked good. Produced 40 rockfish through the afternoon with a linger or two.
Sat we headed back out to the C, this time armed for hallies. Picked up quick limits for the boat, ranging from the smallest at 17 to my biggest at 28. Not huge, but very tasty. Headed back to the previous spot (if I knew where it was, id tell ya) and limited on rocks, cabezon, seabass and 2 limits of lings for 4 rods. Great day of fishing, and the flattest water Ive ever seen on the Pacific.
Saw Tom on the Cabazon with a boat full of charter-ees. Looked like they were hooking up regularly and smiles all around.
Neah is definitely a blast, but big water with lots of risk. Unbelievable weather during our trip made it seem like an overgrown lake.
