Sunday proved to be the day I've been looking forward to for a while now. I've been fishing for these magestic beast for a couple of years now. this year i've dedicated myself to their pursuit and on trip # 9 or 10 a keeper was finally put the boat. The day was sunny, a little windy, at times cloudy, but all in all very pleasant. About a half an hour after reaching the fishing grounds, rod #1 went tap, tap, tap and Trent grabbed it and the fight was on! I tossed the anchor ropes and we followed him around for about 15 minutes + or - eternity until we could restle him into the boat. A quick measurement from tip of nose to the V in the tail put him at 53", just a mere 1" below oversize. High 5's, Hoops and hollers, mark the catch record, get back to fishing. We had a few more bites, one quick release, and then right before it was time to leave, major tug. I set the hook into the biggest fish I've ever seen! It came up thrashing right behind the boat. My boat is 7' across the back and this fish was longer than that! Holy Cow, a monster. It dove and pulled line then just like that it was gone! Dissapointed, yet exillerated and shaking, I thanked the fish gods for a truely fantastic day. I'll be back.... Mark
