My first ever report, so why not start out on a spot I've never been to. My fishing buddy and I launched his boat at Olson's around 9:00 AM. It would have been an earlier start but having a flat tire on the boat trailer on the way didn't help.

Anyway, once we started fishing things were a little slow. Had a couple of missed takedowns, the ever present dog fish but not much to show for our efforts. We started out around 300' and moved out towards the shipping lanes with little success. Then we relocated towards the west and things began to happen. First one 'rigger goes down, ends up being a nice silver but with that extra fin. That one gets released and in trying to get a coho killer down a humpie nails it right in front of us. That one goes in the box but in the chaos I look over and my line is off the 'rigger and limp. I reel in the slack and it's game on, definitely a king. After a good fight it comes to the boat. The nicest fish of the day, probably in the 18-20 lb range but with the extra fin again. That's the kind of day it was, 3 different fish in a 15 minute time span and we didn't even have to move the boat.

After that it was periods of fish and then quiet. Really lost count of how many fish we caught. We had our share of shakers but we had more problem with that extra fin. We ended up with 2 humpies, 2 silvers and should have had more but that's fishing. As a fitting tribute to the day in reeling them in for the last time I had a <22" BM hit my spoon. He was hooked in the eye and was probably a goner anyway but he had to be released. As we left to start heading back home a lone eagle flew over us, circled us twice and then went and the wisked away his dinner we had so graciously provided for him. A fitting end to a good day of fishing.
